The cutoff established in the Mandatory Guidelines from the US Department of Health and Human Services for screening of urine samples for amphetamines is 1,000ng/mL. Confirmation cutoff concentrations are 500ng/mL for amphetamine and methamphetamine. To report a sample positive for methamphetamine, the specimen must also contain amphetamine at a concentration greater than or equal to 200 ng/mL 62169. There are no established cutoff concentrations for the analogs, as they are not covered by the current guidelines.
The US Department of Defense has established confirmation cutoffs of 100 ng/mL of the d-enantiomer of amphetamine or methamphetamine to report a sample as positive. The methylenedioxy analogs MDA, EDEMA, and MDEA have cutoffs of greater than or equal to 500 ng/mL.
